What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Just start! Take it one step at a time and make small changes. These small changes will compound over time and lead you to a healthy lifestyle change. Also, it is important to find something that motivates you from the inside - maybe you want to be more confident, maybe you want to keep up with your kids or grandkids, maybe you'd like to run a race? Every day when you wake up, remind yourself about what is going to drive you to achieving your goals!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness has changed my life exponentially! I fell in love with CrossFit and exercise when I was at my lowest point. I had no self-esteem and felt like I did not have a purpose. Exercise helped me find new friends, find a gym where I belong, and become a trainer and help others reach their fitness goals. Now I embody fitness and health both inside the gym and outside as I am currently studying to get my doctorate in Kinesiology and Health Science studying exercise motivation in children!

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would use the money to put towards savings as I continue to study for my doctorate degree. Having this financial security would help me focus on my studies. My goal is to bring awareness to physical activity and exercise among children with disabilities and this money would provide me with opportunities to travel to various conferences to share my research. Ultimately this money will go to the greater good of providing at-risk populations with opportunities to be active and exercise!
