What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Fitness and health equate to much more than cardio, weights or any workout routine. Find something you love that you lose yourself in. This can look like anything from pole dancing to taking a walk while birdwatching. Finding something that Incorporates self-care and empowers you will encourage mental, spiritual and physical wellbeing.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness is a spiritual experience for me. Yoga inspires me to take risks, be present and grow in self-acceptance. Zumba is exciting, empowering and unleashes the sexy side in me. In addition lifting weights and eating healthy has improved my mental health tremendously. I have battled with depression and anxiety my entire life and fitness has improved my symptoms and overall quality of life.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would use this opportunity to advocate and bring awareness to mental health and the ability of fitness to improve the lives of those impacted by these illnesses. I would donate a portion of the 20,000 to a domestic violence shelter in my city which provides free counseling services to those in need as well as donating some to LGBTQIA+ advocacy groups. I would use the rest to pay off student loans and create a savings account so my children have the opportunity to go to college.
