What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

As women, nurturing others can seem as automatic as breathing. Being healthy and fit is a way for us to show as much kindness, compassion, support and love to ourselves as we do to others. And, yes, I know after a long work day the thought of working out can seem like yet another chore. So, change the way you look at it. Find activities where you can have fun and laugh. Seek balance by getting a restful night’s sleep. Most importantly, don’t cave in or quit.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

For years, I worked as a finance executive. I love working with numbers, and I was surrounded by a smart and supportive team. However, I found that I felt most alive in my evening cardio pump classes after work. By chance, I entered a contest to become an instructor. Lo, and behold, I won! The rest, as they say, is history. Through fitness, I am able to not only become the best me I can be, I get the opportunity to help and encourage others to become the best version of themselves too.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

Fitness for Happiness isn’t just the name of my company, it’s my calling. If I were awarded $20,000, I would use the money to create more Champions, or fitness instructors, certified through my company, who approach grace-based fitness as a lifestyle. I would also expand my online presence, so that more working women, who may not have access to a gym or who may just be downright tired after work, learn fun, simple, quick, and engaging full-body exercises.
