Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Shannon Sigmon and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

I recommend keeping a journal and documenting your progress as you go. This brings consistency and accountability to your fitness journey. In my journal, I write my goals, document my meals, workout plan, add progress pictures and record my results from when I get my body analysis done. This keeps me on track and motivates me to keep going. Working out is part of my daily routine. I make time for it!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

My kids grew up. I felt like I had no purpose. I wasn’t eating right and my body was feeling unhealthy. I decided to focus on God and fitness. The more I worked out and saw results, the more hooked I was! I love seeing new lines of definition form on my body. I love feeling healthy! I’m about to turn 48, but I feel 28. I’m like the energizer bunny! I can just keep going and going. My day starts at 4am and I work two jobs almost everyday and I do it with a smile.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I work for a Title 1 elementary school and I have noticed that not many kids get to the dentist for cleanings. I would like to partner with a local dentists to provide a mobile service that visits schools and cleans the student’s teeth for free.
