Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Rachel Shoham and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Changing your mindset. “I can’t” needs to be “I can”, and “I’ll try” changed to “I will.” It all starts in the mind. The moment you accept responsibility for everything in your life, is the moment you gain the POWER to CHANGE anything in your life! After that, it’s just a formula... and the willpower to follow it!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Being physically fit has gifted me with energy and discipline that carries over into all areas of my life. I’m a mother of 3, a survivor of BII, and someone who suffers from an autoimmune disease (that I’ve been able to manage without medication due to my healthy eating and active lifestyle). I’m a huge advocate of the connection between mind, body, and spirit. My outward strength gives me inner strength! I am confident, focused, grateful, and goal-oriented.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

At 40 years old, I’m recently back in school to better my personal situation, and gain some financial independence after a failed marriage. I’d use the money to pay off student loans, and then start a foundation for other women in situations similar to mine... who want to better their situation but don’t know how, or have the means to do so.
