After being diagnosed bipolar two years ago fitness has become a pinnacle of my life allowing me to manage my moods and medication affects.
Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Nicole Havill and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!
You have to have gratitude for your body no matter what the state. Your body will not serve you if you have self loathing for it. After I began taking medication for bipolar and was healing mentally and physically, I had to realize rest was just as important as working out. You must make fitness a priority and realize it will help elevate your moods as well. Alcohol and sugar also have a big affect on your moods and body. Fitness and healthfulness is a frame of mind and a lifestyle.
I previously had an eating disorder and was diagnosed bipolar two years ago. In order to effectively manage my moods I began focusing on having a healthy relationship with my body by exercising every day and eating foods to nourish it. It was ultimately through yoga, meditation, working out, and therapy that I was able to overcome these problems. I have been doing olympic lifts for years which allowed me to gain muscle and confidence. I now do not fear foods but eat to support my muscle growth.
I would love to set up a scholarship fund for women who are struggling with mental health issues to pursue post secondary education, preferably pursuing a major in healthcare, nutrition, or fitness. This allows health and fitness to permeate further, and the recipients can help more people with what they are passionate about. The scholarships would ultimately allow girls with mental illnesses to better support themselves and give them the confidence to pursue their dreams in health and fitness.
