What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

To get started on a healthy lifestyle I would suggest to first have an open and positive mindset. Don't approach it from the thought of what you can no longer do, but instead approach it with the thought of everything that you will gain by changing your lifestyle. Make a plan and stick to it. Plan your meals and workout routines in advance. If you feel that you need extra support, have a friend join you in the process.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness has allowed me to be in the best shape of my life mentally, physically and spiritually. The gym has always been my "happy" place that allowed me to tune out the stresses of life and focus on myself for a couple of hours every day. Being a fitness instructor, I have encountered so many people that have become like family. Fitness has helped me get through many tough times in life and helps to continually fight off depression. On top of all that, I have loss 40lbs!

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would use the prize to finally be able to invest in my own small gym for holding individual and group training sessions as well as holding group fitness classes such as Zumba, MixxedFit and Xtreme Hip-Hop.
