What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Mental health is the most significant, and often overlooked, element of our overall well being. It is important to take care of one's mind with the same care and consistency required to take care of one's body. This requires a daily commitment, a growth mind-set and the humility to let others help you along your journey. We are all "works in progress" and the daily effort we apply towards a healthier body and mind will deliver to us a better tomorrow.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness has influenced all aspects of my life. Aside from the obvious benefits of a strong and healthy body, the daily work relives stress and keeps me grounded and focused all day. As a psychotherapist, it has allowed me to approach my clients with patience, compassion, and a clear mind. As a mom and wife, it has allowed me to create a unique identity that feels selfishly my own-- but instead of creating a divide allows me to be fully present to them and our relationship as a family.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

If I were selected as the next Ms. Health and Fitness, I would utilize a portion of the funds to pay for the education to become certified in Nutritional Psychology. This is the study of the impact of nutrition on mood and behavior. I believe this would be a huge benefit to my patients!! I would use the remainder to expand educational materials for my practice to offer my clients more resources to address their fitness, nutrition, and overall well being.
