Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Melissa Cole and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Start with small changes that become healthy habits and continue to increase those healthy behaviors until it becomes your lifestyle. All of this sounds easy, but is achieved over time. Set long term goals that are measurable and achievable, then identify short term goals that contribute to your long term goals. Have someone who holds you accountable and checks in with you regularly regarding your status. Know there is failure with success, but ultimately you are worth it!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

How does it not? I have always had an abundance of energy and exercise is my outlet to expend all of that energy. I realized that it was an asset when I started sharing this gift as a group fitness instructor when I was 20. Now at 41, I am in the best shape of my life and continue to inspiration and empower those who experience my group fitness classes. I have energy to keep up and even out run my kids. I want others to feel the same.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

Well, I love to travel the world so a sweet family vacation would be in order to celebrate. I would use some of the money to do my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. Growing and evolving in this industry is a must and it’s the right time for me to spread my yoga wings. The rest of the money would go towards my kids college education.
