What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Remember that you're doing this for you. Others will ask questions, judge you, pressure you to go off plan, skip the gym, "live a little". This is your life. This is you living. This is you taking care of your body. Your body is a temple and you should treat it with the most respect. This is a lifestyle that you need to take one day at a time. Small daily improvements will significantly improve your future. Stay consistent.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

When I was 10 years old I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, an auto immune disease in my knees, and it later travelled to my jaw and spine. I was virtually immobile for many years, gained significant weight and was in pain daily. I had had enough. I have transformed, focusing on strength and healthy eating. My arthritis has been inactive for nearly 7 years. I am grateful each and every day for my health and will never take movement for granted.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I am a single parent working two jobs as well as prepping for an upcoming show in October 2019: The Latin America Championships in Costa Rica pro qualifier. This money would help me decrease some of my workload so I can focus on more time with my 3 year old son and more time at the gym. It's a very challengening balance.
