I suggest to others who are trying to get fit and healthy, is to find what you love, and hold on to it... try new ways of getting exercise! Whether it is going to yoga with your friends, taking a group class at your gym, riding your bike with your children, or chasing PR’s, I believe if you love what you are doing, it is going to give you the drive to stay more consistent! Fueling and nourishing your body properly while staying active is so utterly important also!
Since I was young, I have had a love for athletics instilled in me. Whether I was waddling around a soccer field, or in the gym getting strong for the coming basketball season, I always left with a sense of clarity, release and peace. Being in college, stress and uncertainty is more prevalent than it ever has been in my life. The gym has become a sanctuary for me where I can self reflect. When I walk in, it is just me, my music and the iron. It is where I work through my toughest moments.
Living right outside of the city of Pittsburgh, I see how poverty negatively effects the upcoming generations around me. Since sports have been a huge part of my life, I have had the opportunity to meet people from all different backgrounds. Because of how fortunate I am, I would like to donate $10,000 of the $20,000 to the YMCA in the City of Pittsburgh for their after school children’s program. For the other $10,000 , I would put towards finishing my college degree.
