What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Being fit & healthy is a goal everyone can accomplish. Start by setting short term goals such as walking 1-mile everyday for one month. When you reach that goal, add to it and make a bigger goal. This will give you a sense of accomplishment & motivate you to continue on your journey for better health. Also, when you need help, ask. Trust me, other people want to see you succeed too!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness is a way of life for me. I have completed an ultramarathon, marathons, triathlons and Jiujitsu tournaments. I became a personal trainer because I love fitness. I wanted to help more people so I put myself through nursing school then later became a certified health coach. I teach and empower people how to improve their own lives and health. I get to make a difference in the lives of others. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone work to be healthier.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would use a portion, through my run coaching, to raise awareness of St. Jude’s Children's Hospital. I want to train & encourage more people to run the St. Jude race every year, which is the biggest fundraiser for the Hospital. I would also place some in my son’s college fund.
