For most people relationship with food and body image are deeply rooted in childhood. Often, the first step to getting fit and healthy as adults is overcoming any self-image false beliefs rooted in childhood, and realizing we are in charge of our health, mind and body. My recommendation is to always keep in mind that the body becomes what the foods are and the spirit becomes what the thoughts are. I recommend, start every day of your journey with that thought in mind, and act accordingly!
Fitness gives me the physical strength and wellbeing that helps me build up my mental resilience. There is something akin to a dance between body and mind. Because of exercise the body releases endorphins and it becomes a beautiful fortress for a healthy mind, the healthy mind supports a healthy body with the feedback of positive thoughts and beliefs and gives it the proof and the willpower to persist. In this symbiotic relationship, the spirit can only thrive.
After giving birth and nursing my newborn for 18 months I was severely injured by my personal trainer while trying to get back in shape. I wasn’t able to walk pain-free for 2 years, and was close to surgery. I have vowed to help educate women about post-partum recovery and fitness. I will start by investing in my fitness education by getting a personal trainer certificate. Then I would like to dedicate my work on creating a resistance and strength based programs for women after birth.
