Firefighter mom that loves fitness and food. Staying healthy so I can save lives and inspire my children.
Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Lauren Bachmann and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!
Fitness begins with very small steps. Some days it’s all we can do as busy parents to not cave and eat something fast and cheap. By making fitness a family affair you not only set a good foundation for a healthy life for your children but you end up being a happier parent too! Including your family in your fitness goals not only strengthens your bond but helps keep you on track for a healthier you.
As a Firefighter I have to be physically fit to do my job. My crew relies on me to be able to save them. Additionally, exercise is so good for First Responders. It helps combat depression and PTSD. Studies have shown that exercise can help First Responders more effectively deal with stress. I know it helps me be a better coworker and parent because it helps calm and center me after emotionally exhausting shifts. My children benefit from their Mom being happier and healthier.
If I were fortunate enough to be chosen, I would like to finish creating my Firefighter Peer Fitness program and be able to send materials out to fire stations that cannot afford to purchase or create these programs. I want to focus on the volunteer and small departments across the United States. I feel that everyone can benefit from Peer Fitness but many stations don’t have the budget, or the resources, to provide it for their Firefighters. I want to be able to provide it to them for free
