Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Khonnie Kittiroch Baer and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” – Muhammad Ali. The resistance felt in the gym physically, and the resistance and struggles in life are the same, it builds strength and character. Commit and invest in yourself!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness is time I set aside for myself to “reset”. I work full time, own my own practice, and am married with 3 boys, ages 12, 10 and 5. As much as I love my job and family, taking an hour each day to spend on myself gives me the energy and stamina to be a better mom for my kids and a better physician for my patients. It also allows me to meet new friends with like-minded interests and goals. My husband and I are both fitness enthusiasts and we love being active together.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

This is fun, isn’t it?!? I would use the money to invest in my kids’ college fund, and donate the rest to Doctors Without Borders. The organization was created to raise awareness and advocate with the United Nations and US government on humanitarian concerns. Doctors Without Borders is a medical humanitarian organization that provides aid around the world to people whose survival is threatened by violence, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or illness.
