Currently a corporate marketing advisor and personal trainer. I love helping women find nutritious foods they love and workouts they enjoy!
Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Katie Shaffer and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!
Start with your nutrition. You can't outwork a bad diet. Even if you're busting your butt in the gym, if you don't nourish your body with the right foods, your results will plateau and ultimately you won't see the results you're looking for. Take the time to learn about what foods and ingredients work well with your body and what don't. Start preparing your meals at home instead of eating out - meal prep your lunches and cook your dinners at home. Then worry about finding a workout you enjoy.
There is nothing like the endorphins that I get from the gym. Not just the immediate high but also the feeling of accomplishment throughout my day. My days feel different if I don't workout in the morning - I'm slower, not as focused or positive. And I love when I can share with others the way the gym makes me feel and then show them and they get to experience the same feeling.
Put it towards opening my own studio in Charlotte, NC. There isn't anywhere in Charlotte that teaches people HOW to start lifting, as well as classes for intermediate and advanced lifters. There are a ton of classes out there that include weight lifting but no one teaches the basics and continues to build on it.
