Julie Ann Fournier

I am a survivor and a fighter! With a lot of work I have turned my struggles into strength. It has made me so grateful for my life!

Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Julie Ann Fournier and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

It really starts by taking the small steps first! If you feel like you don’t have it in you to get fit that’s ok, it’s just one thought. Go with the thought that you Got this! Enjoy the process of getting there. I want to motivate people and let them know that you can start wherever you are at, and still be successful. I recommend finding something that feels good on your body and that you have fun doing, fitness should not be a chore but a lifestyle that we also enjoy!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Before I got really into fitness I was very sick. I struggled with depression forever & it manifested into an eating disorder. I was dying, & my heart actually stopped when I was 23. I found Yoga while in treatment and it was the first time I felt like I really wanted to do something good for my body. I was in shock at the unfamiliar feeling of wanting to be healthy. I crawled out of the dark space in my mind & dove into yoga. I had found how I was going to save me.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I’m a yoga teacher & I LOVE it, but Im really struggling to make a living off teaching yoga. With the $20,000 I could continue to teach yoga without being so worried that I won’t make rent. My main objective is to teach yoga & fitness & be able to make ends meet while doing it. I love life & I love you! I want to share the joy fitness brings me with those who haven’t found it yet. If I can continue teaching yoga, I can give someone the type of 2nd chance I got!
