What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Take it one day at a time. And, if that doesn’t work, take it one hour at a time. And if that STILL doesn’t work, take it one minute at a time. We ultimately control our destination, but sometimes the journey is tougher than we predict it to be. Find someone to help keep you on the right track, and remind yourself every day the reason you’re doing this is for #1: YOU. You must love everything about yourself first in order to have the power to change anything.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

I work with people every day that believe they can’t reach their goals because of XYZ reasons. They remind me every day that they learn a lot from our sessions, but I feel like they teach me more about myself and why I chose this career path. Interactions with other people through fitness can become more rewarding than making the next “big sale.” It’s important to remind yourself of that daily so that your profession doesn’t become a job.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

Honestly, I didn’t know there was prize money with the competition. I wanted to submit my story to not only get my name out there but also as a refresher on why I do what I do. Sometimes entries like this help you take a step back and realize what you have to work with. If I won the $20,000, I would definitely put it into my clientele and potential students. Sometimes the only thing keeping people from their goals is knowing the WHAT and WHY behind it all.
