Jessie Hinrichsen Kennedy

I’m a widow, a mom, a teacher, a coach, and a lover of sports. I am just trying to do the best with the hand I’ve been dealt.

Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Jessie Hinrichsen Kennedy and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Take everything one day at a time. If you mess up, start over! Always keep moving forward. Exercise in some way everyday. Everything doesn’t have to be a formal workout. Have fun with the ones you love while you can.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

I started CrossFit after my husband passed away. It has helped me focus on getting through my days without succumbing to the heavy burden of grief. The workouts are intense and varied. I feel as if I can let my frustrations and emotions out when I do my workouts. Mental health is just as important as physical health.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

If I were the the next Ms Health and Fitness I would use the prize money to start a fitness fund at my Box for people like me who need mental and physical exercise and a place to escape and let out the frustrations of their situations through CrossFit training.
