Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Erin Riddell and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

A path to living a fit and healthy lifestyle starts with throwing away the all or nothing approach. Your journey is going to be full of experimentation and that’s part of the fun! Be open to trying new fitness classes, running, going to the gym etc. Fitness isn’t a one size fits all! A healthy lifestyle also includes enjoying everything life has to offer without any guilt! Desserts and meals out anyone? It’s so important to incorporate everything that brings you joy in life!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness has kept me out of some pretty dark places. As someone that has gone through an eating disorder, miscarriage, post partum depression and a divorce, I needed a healthy outlet to be able to manage my stress and do something that was strictly for myself. Instead of turning to something unhealthy, I used fitness to channel all my energy and its developed into something I’m truly passionate about. It’s so fascinating to see what passion and dedication can accomplish!

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

Wow, $20,000! It would be life changing for my daughter and I as a single mother. To be able to put money aside for her university would take so much pressure off me. Something I struggle with daily is not feeling good enough in my career and always worrying I’m not providing enough for my daughter! I would love to be able to go back to school to show her it’s never too late to follow a dream!
