Fitness has been a lifestyle for me as long as I can remember, continuing with this into adulthood has seemed natural. For many that is not the case. Staying fit and healthy can be incredibly challenging as we go about our busy lives. Focusing on looks is less important than focusing on how you feel. I know that when I eat healthy and get my workouts in I am more productive and happier in my daily life. We often focus on the external parts of fitness, it's how you feel that is important.
Fitness keeps me grounded. There are numerous studies that indicate the biological benefits of exercise. Elle Woods was on to something (Legally Blonde). When we exercise we release endorphins and those are helpful in elevating our mood. This in turn decreases stress, anxiety and depression along with other psychological benefits. I know that when I workout I am keeping my body healthy, but I am also helping to keep my mind healthy.
If I were the next Ms Health and Fitness I would use the winnings to help pay for my doctoral degree. After pursuing my degree I hope to integrate exercise into my treatment of depression, anxiety and stress. The earnings will help me be able to further my education to help the greater community with some of the most prevalent issues plaguing society today. These factors might seem normal, but they have a huge impact on our functioning and overall happiness. So why not treat them naturally?
