Denise Custard

The only thing you have control over are your own behaviors & choices. For me this means I create who I am & my own happiness.

Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Denise Custard and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Make the decision for yourself. Your motivation has to come from within. Extrinsic rewards are reassuring but to make a lifestyle of health and fitness you must be intrinsically driven. Remember your reasons of why you want to be fit and healthy and don't ever give up on yourself. Nobody else is going to do the work for you.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

I started lifting because I realized taking care of myself was the only thing I had real control over. I have used lifting as a form of therapy to get me through situations in my life that otherwise would have defeated me. Lifting has been a form of self love and self preservation for me. Working out is my time of the day to create my best self so that those who rely on me can have the optimal person they deserve.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

If I were to win this contest and the money, I would finally be able to do that first competition I have been thinking about. More importantly, I would continue to encourage health and wellness in my community by investing into my personal training and massage therapy businesses.
