Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Ashley Pollard and her voters for helping us donate to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

I would say to just start. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Small changes lead to huge achievements. Do your research, ask for help, invest in your health, experiment, try, fail & try again. But most importantly - do it the RIGHT way. Go slow. Be smart. Enjoy the process. Honor your body & health the way it should be.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness literally saved my life. Seven years ago I was drowning from an eating disorder. I stumbled across a few bloggers who fueled their bodies properly & lifted weights. Today, I am fully recovered, a competitive powerlifter, a certified personal trainer, and an advocate for mental health. Everyday, fitness provides me with a feeling of happiness, strength, therapy, empowerment & bravery. It pushes me to continue to become the best version of me and never look back.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would donate the money to Mental Health America which helps provide recovery/treatment programs to those suffering, as well as fund research. I pray that those who need it can receive the help they deserve. It’s time we openly talked about mental health.
