What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

If you want to be fit, develop willpower. If you want to be healthy, practice mindfulness & gratitude. Fitness requires dedication to your diet, to your lifestyle choices, & to an exercise routine. Health encompasses emotional, physical, psychological, & spiritual well-being. Be mindful of your actions & words. Have good intentions. Work on self-improvement. Breathe. A positive mindset creates the willpower you'll need to succeed in fitness.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

When I'm dedicated to fitness, I'm providing the essential nutritional and physiological chemicals I need for my brain and body to thrive. When I feel good internally, I'm more likely to make smarter lifestyle choices (e.g. not going out for 'Happy Hour' on a Wednesday and going to the gym instead), which in turn motivates me to develop a routine. Positive reinforcement occurs. Happy hormones are released. Learning accelerates. Confidence grows. I feel my best self and capable of anything.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I'm in my 1st year of a professional grad school program to earn my doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT)! This money would be an immediate investment into my education to help cover a semester-worth of tuition. It would additionally be a long-term investment in my contribution to society. As a personal trainer and yoga instructor, I've seen how sharing a passion for health can transform lives. As 'Ms Health and Fitness' and a future physical therapist, I will be able to help even more!
