Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Sandy Bodeau and her voters for helping us donate $179,724.93 to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Find a fitness activity that you truly enjoy. Do not go for what is popular at the time. You will get tired of it if you don’t truly love it. Consistency is the key to living a fit & healthy life. If you find that activity, you’ll stick to it!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

WOW! I do not even know where to start answering. Fitness has GIVEN me my life. Having sickle cell anemia, you always hear that you will not be able to exercise like a healthy person. Ironically, exercising has been what gave me the normal life others told me I could not have.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would save them for my 16-month-old son. I got to the US from my native Spain with $800 and speaking no English. I went on to graduating top of my class and working for the U.S. Senate after teaching myself how to write, read and speak English watching TV with subtitles. My biggest goal in life is showing my son that he can achieve ANYTHING. So I would save that money to use it towards any dream he may want to pursue.
