What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Believe in yourself. Nothing separates you from the elite athletes except for your own mindset. I love that fitness has no finish line, no age limit, and it enables you to be an athlete at any stage!! I recommend finding someone or a place that truly loves helping people with fitness. If you can’t afford that, then get on sites that give SO much free info and guidance!Write down short term and long term goals and dive in. Be consistent and be patient!You will succeed!Just go!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

In essence,fitness saved me.After my firstborn, I was showing signs of post partum depression and I was prescribed excercise before taking a different approach. It was life changing. Fitness helped me find myself again, to show me how capable I was of taking charge of my life and health. Once I picked up a barbell,I never looked back. Iron sharpens iron. I had women inspire me and now I try to lead by example for other women as well. Fitness is ageless,fitness has no finish line,it gives hope.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

This magazine has inspired me to do more! I would give percentage to sponsor young local athletes and I would have the means to put more into Bod Squad Training Studio,which would mean more programs for women and kids!One dream would be reality if I launched Strong Girl Games nation wide! I would take my 73 yr old mom to run the cherry blossom 5k in D.C. She started running at 70! She deserves a beautiful race. I would also bring in workout gear that gives back to our military families and vets.
