Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Natalie Anne Gross and her voters for helping us donate $179,724.93 to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

You’re freaking human! We all set goals. We all sometimes fail, BUT the biggest part is remembering to get up, dust yourself off & use that as motivation to push even harder. Learn to be gentle (but BAD-ASS) & love your freaking self! This is something that has taken me thirty five years. Remember that even baby steps are steps in the right direction and no matter where your body is, when you step into that gym, SMASH it & know that you gave it your all.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

My little brother, Frank R. Gross, was killed in action July 16, 2011 & that was a day that would forever rock my world. Cue unhealthy addictions. I had always been heavily integrated into fitness, but there is not a shadow of a doubt that it was the one thing that saved my life. Unfortunately, there are so many others in the world who feel like they have no reason to fight any longer. Through fitness, healthy eating & establishing a sense of community, there is HOPE.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

2 things: host fitness camps for adaptive veterans & active duty who have laid down their lives for us. By empowering others through physical fitness, we create a ripple effect that can extend exponentially. I would also give my father money to open a food truck w/ a portion of proceeds going to in-need FEMALE veterans: the heroes most don’t talk or think about. By strengthening & motivating our female community, we can morph back into the BAD ASS women we were born to be!
