Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Kenza Mekouar and her voters for helping us donate $179,724.93 to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

To work on self love and self esteem. To develop that self kindness that doesn't allow you anymore to feed your body with junk food or to be lazy and passive. To LIVE their body instead of only using it. The more you love yourself, in a humble and positive way, the more you take care of yourself, and it's not anymore only about the physical appearance, but also about our inner self, your soul.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Besides the benefits of my own practice, when I teach yoga, I'm able to touch people's hearts and souls. Being pure and vulnerable at the same time, peeling off all the surface layers, showing your true self, is something that requires trust and confidence. When my students put their trust and faith in me, follow me on a retreat or on intense workshops, I feel so blessed and grateful that it gives a beautiful, magical sense to my life. Helping others improving their own lives make mine better.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would open my yoga studio and bring over all my yoga teacher friends from everywhere in the world (Canada, USA, Peru, India...) to teach and co-create with me. I would try to create a space where health is not only physical but also mental and spiritual, and where we can, somehow, feel like one, as the word "OM" means in sanskrit.
