The greatest challenge is not how far you can push the body; but how far can you push the mind.

Ms. Health and Fitness and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors would like to thank Jana Shaw and her voters for helping us donate $179,724.93 to our injured United States military veterans!

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

I have been a registered nurse for over a decade. I have watched patients slowly deteriorate from primarily living a sedentary, stressful, and overall unhealthy lifestyle. You have one body and one lifetime with that body. You are the only person responsible for that body. Preventing disease is much less costly both mentally, physically, and financially than a lifetime of treating diease. It’s your choice.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

This lifestyle has taught me discipline in every aspect of life. This lifestyle is a lifelong commitment. It requires planning and a balance that only comes after trial and error. This lifestyle has taught me how to live a quality life with the goal of preventing disease rather than feeding into disease. This lifestyle is the best stress reliever on the market!

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would use the money to help fund my daughter’s college tuition for nursing school. She will follow in her mother’s footsteps.
