What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Being healthy is a lifestyle, a balance of your physical and mental well being. Life is not about restrictive diets and fads. There is no “one size fits all” rule as we are all unique with specific wants and needs. You need to find what works best for you. It’ll take a lot of experimenting through trial and error. How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness keeps me alive mentally, physical and spiritually. I was a late bloomer in life, especially as an older athlete. Through exercise I’ve pushed myself through new boundaries and achieved goals I never thought were possible. I developed self-confidence and esteem in my facets of my life. My passion for a healthy lifestyle ultimately led me to work in the fitness profession. There’s no better gratification than motivating people to achieve their best potential through fitness.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would use that money to re-invest in my business. I’d love to grow my brand Cindy Lai Fitness and expand my business on a national level. There’s only so much one person can do and you can never do it all. There are so many people who need help out there and I’m limited to how many I can reach out to. I’d donate a portion of that to charity to help underprivileged kids who can find hope in the future through a healthier lifestyle.
