What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Surround yourself with like minded people, eat a well balanced diet, move your body daily, and find a work-life-balance that compliments you. Research shows a healthy positive attitude helps build a healthier immune system and boosts overall health. Your body believes what you think, so focus on the positive!

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Your body loves you, so love it back. I am grateful for everyday that I'm healthy and able to use my body, and never take it for granted. Beyond feeling healthy, regular exercise can help relieve tension, anxiety, and stress. Exercise causes the release of endorphins, which relieves pain and stress, strengthens the immune system and improves your mood. Physical activity becomes a part of your daily routine and improves your general well-being, for both your mind and body.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

The two things which I'm most passionate about is educating children about health & nutrition and improving quality of life for those struggling with ailments. I grew up in the midwest where meals were very meat and potato based. I chose to be a vegetarian at the age of 8 before I really knew the positive health benefits. I want to help parents, teachers, & kids have the resources to understand what a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet includes and the importance of regular exercise.
