Q&A

What would you recommend to others who want to be fit and healthy?

Take baby steps and know that every little bit counts, whether it means getting more movement throughout your day or controlling the portions of food that you eat. Aim for progress, not perfection. Keeping your overall goals in mind will help you stay motivated and committed.

How does fitness positively influence your life?

Fitness has had an incredible impact throughout my life, from playing field hockey in high school and college, to teaching fitness classes. I truly believe having a gym routine and nutrition regimen not only models good behavior for my kids, it helps ensure I have enough energy and confidence to excel in other areas of my life.

If you were the next Ms Health and Fitness, what would you do with $20,000?

I would take half of the money and donate it to Girls on the Run (GOTR) (a charity that helps empower young girls through running) and CURE International (a charity helping to eradicate club foot, a birth defect I had when I was born). The remainder would help enhance and expand my online fitness coaching business, which helps busy, hard-working moms reach their health-related goals so they can be at their best.
